In the next few minutes you not only will discover the truth of what works and what don’t work but you will know which diet plan is best for you. Having said that let me make some points which will help you navigate successfully through today’s jungle of misleading and conflicting information.

Just follow these simple rules:

A healthy diet is one that helps maintain or improve health. Good Health is dependent largely on Nutrition. It is important for the prevention of many chronic health risks such as: Obesity, heart disease, diabetes and cancer. A healthy diet involves consuming appropriate amounts of all nutrients and an adequate amount of  water. Nutrients can be obtained from many different foods.

 What makes a balanced diet?

Energy giving carbohydrates: Rice-wild, Whole rye bread, sweet potato, banana, organic honey.

Body building proteins: milk, cheese, dhals, beans, nuts, vegetarian foods.
Energy dense fats: cheese, butter, oils, nuts and oilseeds.
Vitamins and minerals: vegetables, fruits, milk and organic milk products.
Drink plenty of water: 10-12 glasses of water to keep the body hydrated and to detoxify the system.

 Easy healthy eating guidelines

Do not skip meals. Eat meals and healthy snacks at regular timings everyday.
Eat a large breakfast, a medium lunch, a small dinner
Don’t overload the stomach. Feel a little hungry after each meal
Eat slowly, chew food properly. (Don’t watch the favorite TV soap of your mom while you eat)
Eat high fibre food such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans.
Use salt and sugar in moderation. (Use mineral rock salt from your local health store, don’t buy the sea salt sodium crap)
Use little oil to cook and on low flame.
Do not heat the leftover oil repeatedly.

Cut the sugar OFF!!! Limit intake of calorie dense food like sweets, fast food, refined food and processed food. (If you crave sugar most probably you have a calcium and sodium deficiency. Look at your nails if you have white spots that’s the case! So Go and buy sesame seeds. Soak them overnight and make sesame milk. Drink it every morning for a week. The cravings for sweet will disappear) I can guarantee you that 100% or your money back…..wait I haven’t charge you for that article did I? LOL

Include more of vegetables, fruits, salads, sprouts, and healthy snacks.
Avoid over eating to prevent overweight and obesity.
Drink water in adequate amount [2-3 litters/day] and beverages [coffee, tea] in moderation.
Avoid/limit alcohol intake.
Avoid smoking
Don’t use drugs (obviously)
Do your Yoga routine every day. Walk in the park 2-4 miles per day. Breath fresh air. Don’t go to the PUB. (just kidding)

That’s it!

Enjoy your health.

Vegetarian or Not Vegetarian That is The Question!

vegetarian diet, vegetarian, healthy diet, yogic diet, yoga As a serious yoga practitioner you really want to extract the real benefits of Yoga you have to adopt a vegetarian diet. Not only are fish and meat specifically listed amongst the “food injurious to the yoga” by the Hatha Yoga Pradipika (I, 59), but eating the flesh of dead animals violates the first principle of yogic ethics (yamas) as laid down by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras, that of non- violence (ahimsa).

Jesus said: You shall not kill. He didn’t said you shall not kill people! It’s about every living being. Get is: did you know that meat is extremely difficult to digest. The meat stays in your digest tract so long that provoke putrefaction and ultimately lead to diseases. Besides the fear of death permeate every cell the body of an animal when it is slaughtered, and therefore, when you eat meat it you will have fear of death also, which is nothing else but born form ignorance and not knowing your true nature.

The traditional yogic diet is lacto-vegetarian (organic milk products) and avoids eggs as well as all animal flesh (including fish!). Indeed modern research has shown that vegetarians are generally in better health than meat eaters. Proteins that can be obtain from nuts, dairy products and legumes are generally of a better quality than meat.

Good News for Vegi eaters. That’s me too LOL…

Statistically, compared to meat eaters, vegetarians have a much lower incidence of heart attack, stroke, kidney disease, and cancer; their resistance to disease is higher; and they are less likely to suffer from obesity than meat-eaters. Some studies show that a balanced vegetarian diet is extremely healthy, and provides all protein, minerals and other nutrients that the body requires. We can take protein from the plant world, just as well as other herbivorous animals. In fact, nuts, dairy products, spirulina, and legumes all supply high-class protein. And it has been proven that some nuts have much higher and better quality of protein than meat.

Sad truth for meat lovers baby!

Fear of protein deficiency is the meat-eater’s main objection to a vegetarian diet. Westerners are obsessed with protein believing that they need far more than they actually do. Meat eaters obtain the worst quality of protein from their food – protein that is dead or dying. Animal protein contains too much uric acid to be broken down by the liver; some are eliminated, but the rest is deposited in the joints, causing stiffness and eventually leading to problems such as arthritis. Get spirulina for example it has 60% of protein for 100grams. Chicken which is considered as high protein meat has only miserable 21grams per 100! Damn ruthless meat industry they will make everything possible to stuff you with crap so they can make more money crushing your health. And I still can not understand why some people don’t listen. But that’s the way it is. Some will get health and happiness while others expensive health insurance.

Joy to You!

Should you DRINK YOUR MILK????

After I posted a blog post about a wrecked doctor who wanted to feed babies with sticky yellowish grinded chicken meat (you can read it here) I have decided to clarify what’s the story with milk. Should you drink milk or not. Well its really up to you I cant convince you about anything. I can just give you the right information so you can convenience YOURSELF. So here ya go…

Drink your milk! How many times have mothers told children this? Millions? Billions?   Milk is ingrained into our brains as the healthiest food on the planet. Indian’s worship cows and cow’s milk is considered next to nectar. Maneka Gandhi, at one time India’s minister for the environment said that “Milk is like cow’s blood” and I will never forget the uproar it raised. You can talk against meat, against processed food, against GM food, everybody will listen. But just try saying one word against milk and you will raise the hackles of the world. But what is the truth? Try these factoids for size

Milk Sugar is indigestible

The enzyme required to digest milk sugar, lactose, is called lactase. It dis-appears from the human intestine at the age of three! That’s right. After 3, milk is virtually indigestible. No wonder kids above 3 don’t like it their taste buds automatically dislike milk because it is indigestible. And we ignore the warning signs of our bodies, and disguise the milk with sugar, horlicks, bournvita, chocolate to fool the body. And what happens? When milk comes into contact with the acidic gastric juice after it is swallowed,  it immediately forms thick, hard to digest curds that coat the stomach and intestines and hampers digestion. Estimates say that 50-50% of the world’s adult population is lactose intolerant.

Milk protein is indigestible

The enzyme required to digest milk protein, casein, is called rennin. It too dis-appears from the human intestine at the age of three. Casein is used to make some of the strongest wood-working glues. Think what it can do to your insides..

Milk is species-specific

Cow’s milk is meant for calves. Goat’s milk for goats. Human milk for babies. The various antibodies in the milk protect the young ones from diseases specific to the species.

Cow’s milk is meant to turn a small calf into a huge cow in a short span of a couple of years. A human baby does not put on so much weight in two years. But it will, if fed with cow’s milk!

No animal drinks milk after it is weaned

Except Man!

Milk is no longer recommended for infants below the age of one even by the American Association of Paediatricians!

The Physican’s Committee for Responsible medicine denounces the use of milk. They say (backed up by evidence) that it is the cause of many diseases

What about the cruelty to cows? They are made forcibly pregnant every year to make them give milk. They are kept awake and milked at night so you can get your milk in the morning. They are fed banned drugs (oxytocin) to increase milk production. They are usually kept cramped up in unhygienic conditions, so they fall ill and get infected. To prevent this, they are fe huge amounts of anti-biotics which find their way into the milk.

Believe me I know cow farms. My uncle has a Cow farm in Spain. I remember when I was a kid my parents let me to spend few weeks with my uncle. I was horrified to see how he treated the poor animals. He beat them every day for no reason (expect because he was angry for something himself) and every day two times per day before milk them he and his ruthless employee shoot an antibiotic stimulator injection, so after 15 minutes their udders changed from almost no milk to a crackling and spoiling the polluted milk to the floor ready for the sucking milk machines.

And spare a thought for the poor calves, who are deprived of their mother’s milk so you can have it?

But what about calcium?

In a nutshell, the calcium in cow’s milk is coarse and not easily digestible. Further, a gastric medium is required to digest the cow’s milk which is high in protein. This leads to over-secretion of acidic gastric juice, leading to an acidic environment. The body then WITHDRAWS calcium from the bones to neutralise it. Excessive milk consumption can then actually cause calcium deficiency and osteoporosis!

Where to get the calcium from, then? Nuts, seeds, Green leafy vegetables have abundance of calcium. And sesame seeds (til seeds) are the richest source of calcium in the planet. And anyway, when you stop eating animal products, the body no longer needs to withdraw calcium from the bones to neutralise the acidic environment created by meat eating. Therefore your calcium needs fall and even a lower amount you eat is adequate.

Milk substitutes

Almond milk and coconut milk are excellent substitutes for cow’s milk and much more healthy. How do you make it?  Take half cup of almonds and blanch them in boiling water for 30 seconds to be able to pop the skins off. Now take the almonds and grind them to a powder in a blender.  Add one cup of chilled water and blend until it gets a smooth milky consistency. Strain and bottle. Keeps in the refrigerator for upto a week. And it can be used anyway that milk can. Use grated coconut for similar results.

Still not convinced? There’s lots more information.

The information available in these three sites could fill a book. I have limited space on this site and do not want to duplicate information, so just go there!

What about yoghurt?

Yoghurt is milk partially digested by bacteria, so it is not as harmful as milk. However it is still not good for you. During the transition period (change from an average diet to a healthy diet) it should also be avoided. Later on, after a year or so, if you like, you can add small portions not more than 2-3 spoonfuls to your salad ocassionally.

What about cheese?

The same story. If you must, a small portion of cottage cheese can be had occasionally after the transition period, added to your salad. Do not cook the cheese, as in a pizza!

What about buttermilk?

Again small quantities occasionally after the transition period.

Is milk fat. So is not as bad as milk itself. Very Small quantities OK occassionally.

And what about the ancients? They drank milk by the bucketful, if legends are to be believed. Perhaps they did, but it was fresh, raw, unboiled, unpasteurised milk, from their own cow which was well-treated like a member of the family, not drugged with anti-biotics, allowed to graze on the fields and not cooped up. The milk available after the calf had its fill was used. Under those circumstances, milk would probably be a better choice than it is today.

To end, now for some old-fashioned rhetoric

Q. If I don’t drink milk, where am I going to get my calcium from?

A. Contrary to popular advertising beliefs, milk and dairy are not the best way to get calcium. Although milk is rich in calcium, it’s also high in animal protein and prevents your body from actually absorbing the calcium. Roughly 25% of the calcium in milk and dairy is absorbed by the human body. On the other hand more than 50% of the calcium in vegetables is absorbed by the body. Below are some examples of superior calcium sources compared to a 3.5 ounce glass of whole milk:
Milk: 119mg calcium per 3.5 ounces
Sea Vegetables 800-1400mg calcium per 3.5 ounces
Almonds 233mg. calcium per 3.5 ounces
Black beans 135mg. calcium per 3.5 ounces
Kale 134mg. calcium per 3.5 ounces
Collard Greens 117mg. calcium per 3.5 ounces
Garbanzo beans 150mg. calcium per 3.5 ounces
Quinoa 141mg. calcium per 3.5 ounces
Watercress 151mg. calcium per 3.5 ounces

One last thing…… and you may want to sit down for this one because it will go against everything you’ve ever been conditioned and programmed to think and believe your entire life. THE MILK FROM THE COW IS NOT FOOD FOR THE HUMAN BEING. Never was, never will be, it’s that simple. The milk that comes from the HUMAN breast is for the baby HUMAN. The milk that comes from the GORILLA’s breast is for the baby GORILLA. The milk that comes from the ELEPHANT is for the baby ELEPHANT. The milk that comes from the HORSE is for the baby HORSE. The milk that comes from the COW is for the……who? The answer is…….baby COW.

All “normal” mammals stop producing the enzyme, lactase (used to digest lactose) and lose the ability to digest their baby food (HELLO – milk is baby food) once they have been weaned. The weaning process begins as your teeth start to come in. Do you have teeth in your mouth? If the answer is yes, it’s time to get off the nipple. If you are lactose intolerant it’s a good thing. Your intolerance to milk as an adult means that you’ve been properly weaned.

Ever wonder where the cow gets it’s calcium from? How about a horse? I want you to visualize in your mind a beautiful horse, with it’s massive body of muscles and strong bones and let’s not forget about it’s great teeth. I’ve got news for you, the horse does not run over to the barn in the middle of the night, wrestle the cow to the ground, flip it over and drink the cow’s milk. So where does the horse get its calcium? The horse eats grasses, grains and vegetables – that’s it.

“STOP listening to the advertisers!!! Cow’s milk does NOT do a human body good”

Milk, Pus and Other Nasty Stuff for Babies.

Harsh title right, well its better that way otherwise people are so busy with material life that sometimes  they don’t care even about their own health and of their children.

Anyway, I’ve just heard some really exciting news…

… because people are getting sick from processed cow’s milk which causes allergic reactions in so many babies (and adults), Thailand scientist Dr. Pipop
has spent the last 10 years working on an alternative.

Are you ready? Are you excited?

Drum roll please…. it’s chicken’s milk! Yummy! But before you start envisioning lactating chickens, let me be clear: this is even more disgusting than in sounds!

Basically, Dr. Pipop takes chicken meat and grinds it into a thick yellowish paste that is stored in tins. Yaikes! Parents  then buy the tin and dilute the chicken paste with water and feed it to their babies in bottles. Think canned dog food–but white!  And the benefits?

Well, biside the disgusting and the harmful part of the chemicals and the old processed meat inside, chicken allergies are rare, so I guess that’s a plus.

Never mind that ground chicken meat, nutritionally speaking, is NOTHING like mother’s milk. It IS high in protein and low
in carbs, and it’s never to early to start a kid on a high  protein diet (joking)!

It’s hard for me to believe this is real, but it is.

After melamine (a type of plastic) was found in thousands of baby foods (and after at least  2 dozen babies died because of it), people have been scared to buy processed baby foods. And you should too!

I know for a certain, I’m not drinking chicken milk or feeding it to my kid anytime soon.

Please do not buy these kind of foods if you want you or your kid to continue be healthy and happy.

Some people can drink milk and eat cheese all day  long and bear the acne, mucus, gas, and allergies from dairy. Believe me I don’t! Unless you look after a Cow in your house, feed it with organic and natural foods and treat it as very nice (as it should be with all animals) and then get your own organic fresh milk from it, the very best alternative to dairy is sesame, one of the richest sources of bio available calcium on the planet.

sesame milk  Sesame milk is very easy to make, very nutritious, and it’s delicious.

Here’s a quick recipe:

4 cups filtered water
1 cup raw sesame seeds
1 Tbls. Natural sweetener (Stevia or honey)
1 Tbls. Cold-pressed coconut oil

Blend on high for 2 minutes. Run blended mixture
through a cheesecloth to remove pulp. Chill and serve.

Joy to You!

Just Keep Calling Him!…

Divine Mother, Healing energy, God Calling and praying fervently to Divine Mother WILL succeed for you.  Divine Mother reaches down to   pull us up – when we raise ourselves a little bit closer to her.  (Divine Mother, Heavenly Father – whatever vision of God works for you.)

Ananda has a song we all love called “Keep Calling Him“, from a Paramhansa Yogananda poem. The words include “even when there’s no reply, keep calling Him.” God’s time is not our time. Whatever Divine Mother brings us is what we need. Our challenge and opportunity is how will we accept what comes. Pray to Divine Mother to know Her will, to accept what She sends, to ask to be a channel for Her light and love.

Have faith that God knows better than we do what is best for us. What is best may not, in this life, include bodily health, or wealth, or whatever else we want.  We are here to work through our karma so we can move closer to God.  Faith is trusting in God regardless of circumstances.

May you be a channel for Divine Mother’s light.

Free Yoga Classes – How to Increase Flexibility in 3 Days!

Here’s something you have to experience to believe:

“The right foods can increase your flexibility

Sounds crazy, right? Well, it’s true. This is not

science or theory; it’s a real-life, student-tested

fact. If you eat a water-dense, plant-based diet with

lots of superfoods, you’ll notice flexibility gains within three days.

Don’t take my word for it – just try it!

Below is a shortlist of my favorite Superfoods. Buy them

fresh or low-temperature dried, and purchase organic

whenever possible.

Dark green vegetables are some of the most mineral-dense

foods on the planet, and waterborne greens or sprouted

greens are even better (waterborne greens usually have

2-10 times more minerals).

Spirulina, chlorella, barley grass juice extract, wheat grass,

kale, parsley, all seaweeds and sea vegetables, chard, and

Today, the most nutrient-dense foods are what I call the

prehistoric plants; the ugly, brown-colored, intimidating

dry good you see in plastic bins at the health food stores.

These are commercial crops, but nutritionally-speaking, they

more-closely resemble their ancestors. They take a little

extra work to prepare (cooking or sprouting), but it’s well

worth it.

Millet, quinoa, amaranth, wild rice, bulgur, sesame seeds,

sprouted seeds of clover, broccoli, mung beans, and radish.

Most people get their fat from inferior, animal-based foods

like milk, ghee, cheese, butter, and meat. In animals’ bodies

(and yours), built up toxins like pesticides, herbicides,

antibiotics, and pollutants are most-often deposited in fat

To make things worse, animal fat also contains the notorious

LDL (bad) cholesterol that can lead to damaged arteries and

heart disease. No wonder fat has such a bad reputation!

Foolishly, many people today try to avoid all fats when really,

they should be avoiding animal fats. Plant fats are not only

good for you – they are essential for health and wellness and

MUST be eaten on a regular basis. Good fat give you sustained

energy, heals your body, and balances hormones.

Raw almonds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, flax

seeds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, brazil nuts, cashews, macadamia

nuts, avocado, coconut, durian, and cold-pressed oils (olive,

coconut, hemp, flax, and sesame seed are all great).

Yoga students put heavy demands on their body, often neglecting

to replenish their system with nutrient-dense, natural foods that

will keep them healthy and strong.

Food for thought…

Healing Cancer Story

The following blog post has been taken from Expanding Light Healing Prayers at

Healing Cancer Story

August 10, 2011 — marykretzmann

We have a special team of people who volunteer to teach evening healing prayer classes here at Ananda’s Expanding Light retreat.   Sophia H. has a lot of experience with the healing prayers, and recently shared this story with me.

Last summer, a woman from Kentucky was visiting the Expanding Light, and she attended my evening prayer class.  She asked for prayers for her father who was very ill with cancerous tumors in the brain.  We prayed for him, and after class I suggested that she get a small group of friends to join with her in the healing prayers for him, once she got home. I just saw her again on her return visit here,  and she gave me an update.

She said, “I formed a small prayer group for my father,  and about a month later it was time for his check-up with the oncologist. The doctor compassionately asked my father  how he was feeling, since previously he had been having many headaches and troubles with his vision, etc.  My father replied, ‘I am feeling great! Wonderful, in fact! My headaches are gone and my vision is better, too!’  – Well, this surprised the doctor, of course, so he ordered a new MRI, which showed that all of the tumors we  now completely GONE!”

Do you have any family or friends who are facing serious challenges in body, mind or soul?  If so, I suggest that you create a small, informal healing group, just as the woman did in this story.   You could agree to meet for a month or two and see if it does some good for the person.  If so – keep it up.  Sometimes healing is gradual and sometimes it is instantaneous – but all prayer is helpful.

“..Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them...”  Matthew 18:19-20

Share this video with your group.  You could watch it together, and then practice the prayer.   They can pray in their own way, as well.   (If your family members are spread across the country, you could send them the link to this page. You could possibly do a group prayer session using skype, or a similar group phone call.)
